Leonard (Krzysztof Kiersznowski), a worker at a factory which is being closed down, is assigned a responsible task: to disassemble all of the telephone booths in the area. The taciturn man sets out with his driver - mad Ben - on a journey to the end of an era. The film is about a lack of communication between people who are close to each other, about the pain it causes and an almost physical inability to make contact with another person. It is also a story about attempts to build relationships, without which life is as empty and barren as the place the characters inhabit.
