Klaus Haro’s newest production The Fencer is among the Finnish candidates for the Oscar nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category. The director’s earlier picture Two Homes will be presented during the 20th Forum of European Cinema ORLEN Cinergia in the New Finnish Cinema section. It is a story about love between a married couple, who want to live according to their choices and dreams. It’s a drama film about making sacrifices for another person, about values and priorities which shape one’s identity. Haro’s newest production also raises important issues about life choices. The Fencer is based on a real story of Endel Nelis, an Estonian fencer and coach. It’s a psychological drama set in the 1950s.
